Leave with Pay

The University of North Texas provides leave with pay to eligible employees for specified purposes, provided eligibility and documentation criteria are met.  These forms of leave are not charged against an employee’s vacation, sick leave, or compensatory time accruals.

Sub-Awards and Sub-Award Monitoring

In accepting a sponsored project award, the University of North Texas (UNT) has legally committed itself to fulfill the purposes and requirements of the sponsored project through use of university personnel, resources, and facilities. When UNT makes a sub-award to assign responsibility for conducting a portion of the work required to a sub-recipient, UNT remains responsible to the sponsor for management of the funding and meeting performance requirements.

Cost Transfers for Sponsored Projects

The University of North Texas strives to ensure that those involved in sponsored project activities appropriately charge costs associated with a sponsored project to the correct account from the outset. However, UNT recognizes that cost transfers are sometimes necessary to correct keypunch or clerical errors, allocate costs of closely related work that may support more than one project or to clear a cost overrun or disallowed cost.

Reporting Substantive Change

The University of North Texas (UNT) is responsible for obtaining approval or informing external governing bodies of substantive university changes. Said external governing bodies include, but are not limited to the: (a) Department of Education, (b) Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), (c) Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and (d)  select discipline-specific accrediting bodies.

Research Space Assignment

All University of North Texas buildings, space, and land belong to the university and are subject to assignment and reassignment to meet the overall needs and best interest of the institution. Long-range planning for optimum use of these university assets is a continuing process. The assignment and use of space must change with university priorities. This may include space currently and traditionally held by academic units.

Student Identity Verification, Privacy, and Notification in Distance Education Courses

UNT takes measures to protect the integrity of educational credentials awarded to students enrolled in distance education courses by verifying student identity, protecting student privacy, and notifying students of any special meeting times/locations or additional charges associated with student identity verification in distance education courses.

Retirement

The University of North Texas recognizes the importance of saving for retirement and is committed to assisting eligible employees with retirement planning and saving.
