Asset Management

As a State institution of higher education, the University of North Texas is responsible for complying with state and federal laws as well as best practices in regard to accounting for and control of university owned property. This policy sets forth responsibilities associated with accounting for, inventorying of, use of, and disposal of personal property belonging to the University.

Spousal Travel

The travel expenses of a spouse who accompanies a University business traveler are reimbursable under this policy, provided it can be established that the spouse's presence serves a bona fide University business purpose (defined below). To be reimbursable under this policy, all spousal travel must have prior written approval from the President and will be processed in accordance with the UNT Travel Guide.

Payroll

The University of North Texas is committed to ensuring employees receive wages owed for work performed in an accurate and timely fashion, in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations.

Instructional Fees

The University of North Texas (UNT) is authorized by state law to collect instructional fees from students to help fund academic instructional expenditures directly associated with classroom activities.
Instructional fees at UNT may be collected under authority of the Incidental Fee statute (Academic Fees) or under authority of the Laboratory fee statute (Laboratory Fees). Academic and Laboratory Fees must reasonably reflect the actual costs to the University for materials, equipment, and instructional services provided.

Accepting Credit Cards

UNT supports the acceptance of credit cards as payment for goods and services to improve customer service, bring efficiencies to the university’s cash collection process, and increase the sales volume of certain types of transactions. UNT requiresthat all units that accept credit cards do so only in compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards(PCI DSS), and in accordance with the procedures outlined in this document.

Employee Indebtedness Owed to the University

Employees at the University of North Texas may become indebted to the University for a variety of financial matters, including but not limited to, tuition/fees, returned checks, parking tickets, etc.  It is expected that all employees will promptly pay their debts to the University.  Employees of the University who fail to resolve and settle any indebtedness owed to the University may be subject to a state warrant hold and/or collection action.

Refunds

UNT recognizes students, for various reasons may have to drop a course(s) or withdraw from the University during an academic term. The University provides opportunity for students to obtain a refund of a portion of eligible tuition and fees paid as applicable through this policy.
