Protected Health Information Privacy

This policy is developed to ensure the privacy of protected health information and to comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Texas Medical Records Privacy Act, and any other applicable federal or state privacy laws or regulations.  The University of North Texas (UNT) must communicate clear and specific compliance standards and procedures to applicable parties regarding the prohibited and required uses and disclosures of Protected Health Information (PHI).

Internships

The University of North Texas (UNT) recognizes the educational value of paid and unpaid internships, which provide students with practical experiences outside of the traditional classroom and allow students to apply knowledge and skills in a professional setting. The University monitors internships to obtain a clear understanding of each student’s application of their classroom learning to real world experiences.

Student Travel

The University of North Texas (UNT) promotes safety and requires students to engage in safe conduct when traveling to and from university activities or events covered by this policy.

Use of Alcoholic Beverages

It is the responsibility of UNT to maintain an environment that is conducive to teaching and learning and to personal and professional growth. It is the intent of the University to establish practices and procedures that discourage irresponsible use of alcoholic beverages and to ensure compliance with state laws by all individuals on University property or property under the control of the University.

Solicitation, Signs, and Postings

The University of North Texas has the responsibility to maintain a campus environment conducive to achieving its principal mission of education.  Accordingly, solicitation activities are allowed on the campus premises when permitted under this policy, the UNT free speech and public assembly policy, or by federal or state law.  Otherwise, no solicitation shall be conducted on any property, structure, or facility owned or controlled by the University of North Texas.
