Prohibition of Camping on University Property

The University of North Texas has an interest in controlling and maintaining university property to safeguard the health and safety of individuals and to ensure that university property is utilized for its designed purposes in support of the university’s educational and business missions.  By this policy, the university prohibits the use of university property for purposes unrelated to the regular programs and activities of the university.

Legal Services

UNT provides legal counsel to students through the Office of Student Legal Services.  Student Legal Services provides students with access to licensed attorneys who are active members of the State Bar of Texas.  This office provides advice to students regarding their legal rights, and at times, may represent students in legal disputes.  Educational materials such as reference books, pamphlets and articles are also available in this office.

Student Services Fee Committee

This policy describes the purpose and responsibilities of the Student Services Fee Committee as well as requirements for membership, means of appointment for membership and length of term per member. The policy also describes procedures for how the duties and responsibilities of the Student Services Fee Committee are to be carried out as well as the role the Vice President of Student Affairs and the President are to assume in the process.

Student Organizations

The University of North Texas recognizes that learning takes place in a wide variety of settings and under a wide variety of circumstances. Involvement and participation in a student group or organization provides opportunities for developing leadership skills and enhances campus life at UNT. In recognition of the important role of student organizations in student development and the significant contribution they can provide to the mission of UNT, the university supports the growth and management of student organizations in accordance with these policies.

FERPA

The University of North Texas affords all students the rights and protections relating to their education records as provided in the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).  Consistent with FERPA, students will be granted access to their education record and except in limited circumstances education records will not be disclosed without a student's consent.

Student Complaint

UNT provides students with a procedure for resolving complaints against UNT faculty, staff, and the university in matters where no other formal process for resolution of complaints has been established.

CARE Assessment Team and Involuntary Student Medical Withdrawal

The University of North Texas is committed to providing a learning environment that is conducive for students to develop to their fullest potential.  On rare occasions the University may be required to activate a systematic response to students who may be in crisis or whose mental, emotional or psychological health condition may directly threaten the safety of the learning environment.  Through the creation of a collaborative interdisciplinary team, the University will provide a caring, confidential program of identification, intervention and response in order to provide students

Hazing

The University of North Texas (UNT) is committed to providing a safe environment for all members of the university community and prohibits hazing by any student, student group or employee.
