UNT values the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, administrators, and campus visitors. UNT also recognizes the value of publishing the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) and acknowledges that it is key to ensuring that the campus community is informed about campus safety policies and statistics.

Policy was reviewed as part of the standard 6-year review cycle. Ownership of the policy was changed to Clery Coordinator (University Integrity and Compliance; VP and Chief Integrity Officer) from the Dean of Students (VP for Student Affairs). All procedures were removed from this policy and placed in the new Clery Act Supplement and Procedures document. The title of the policy was changed to “Clery Act” from “Disclosure of Campus Security and Crime Statistics and Fire Safety and Fire Statistics.” The format of this policy was also updated to be accessible.

The Jeanne Clery Act requires colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information about crime on and near their respective campuses. This policy is revised to include greater detail on how the University compiles and prepares its annual crime security awareness report/brochure. Effective 2/23/2010.
