Faculty members at the University of North Texas have a variety of duties and responsibilities associated with the mission of the institution, including the essential functions of teaching, research/scholarship/creative activities, and professional service/leadership. Work in these areas constitutes the faculty member’s professional obligation to the University and must reflect a 100% time effort.

This policy was reviewed as part of the standard 6-year review process. Revisions to this policy include adding a definition for faculty workload, scholarship, service, teaching, workload equity, and workload guidelines. Clarifying language related to timing for requests in exceptional circumstances was also added. The timeline for faculty complaints has been updated to 10 business days from 14 calendar days. Multiple editorial and formatting revisions were also completed.
